We’re delighted to share that Decanter’s Chris Wilson has included two wines from our range in his thorough new article, Best Prosecco under £20: Top picks. Best of all, Independent Wine customers can try those wines with free next day delivery to Mainland UK.
The first of Chris’s picks is the delightful pink Ca’ di Rajo Prosecco Treviso DOC, which uses Pinot Nero grapes for its blush colour and red fruit flavour.
This fizz is light, elegant and fresh, with added sophistication from the Pinot Nero grape making it extra special. This red grape gives the wine a vivid pink hue, as well as adding the delicate taste of wild strawberry and fresh raspberry.
James Button, Decanter’s judge, wrote in his tasting report that this wine is
“Warm, spicy, earthy red fruit scents with a lick of cream. Mouthfilling and creamy with ripe red fruits, it has some peppery spice and apple in the background. It has a very definite rosé character and that Pinot Noir is clearly making itself heard. Good texture and balance.”
The second wine mentioned is Ca’ di Rajo “Extra Dry” Millesimato 2020 | Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
This single vintage Prosecco Superiore comes from the hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. This area is influenced by cold breezes from the Dolomite Alps, and produces grapes with zingy acidity. As a result, Conegliano-Valdobbiadene is known to offer Prosecco Superiore of much higher quality than the vast lowlands of Veneto.
Here’s James Button’s verdict for Decanter:
“A lifted, lemony floral nose with a silky, creamy mouthfeel showing some delicate hints of green fruit, white flowers and pithy citrus; even some almond. There’s a persevering sweetness balanced by fresh acidity running through the core.”
It’s always an honour to have our wines chosen by publications such as Decanter, as these journalists really know their stuff. Whether you have an occasion to celebrate, or simply fancy a glass of bubbly after a long day, our range of Prosecco is full of hidden gems such as these.
