Single-vineyard organic and biodynamic Brunello, with flavours of wild strawberry, sandalwood and liquorice.
Fiore del Vento is a beautifully elegant Brunello wine. Fiore del Vento is Italian for windflower, or anemone – and it is the name of a cru vineyard planted 1.5 miles west of the medieval town of Montalcino.
Since 1979, Rayner Loacker and his three sons have been perfecting the use of biodynamic and homeopathic methods to cultivate healthy grapes. For example, they use horn manure to enhance root growth, calcarea carbonica to improve flowering, and belladonna to help vines resist infections. The grapes – and the resulting wines – have a pure flavour unspoilt by chemicals.
Tasting Notes
Sophisticated and elegant wine that opens up with notes of wild strawberry, mint and violet flowers. Those are underpinned by flavours of sandalwood, blackberry preserve, leather, sweet tobacco and liquorice. Dark, deep and tannic, Fiore del Vento offers a rich velvety texture.
