This Barbaresco Riserva wine is made in the classic style of Neive, showing the full power of Nebbiolo’s tannins. It is designed to develop its complex flavours and appreciate slowly over 15 years or so.

If you choose to drink this wine now, let it open up properly so that it can give you its best: make sure to decant it, or open the bottle and let it breathe for at least one hour. This Barbaresco Riserva is smooth and complex, with a taste of dried strawberry, cloves and vanilla. 2015 was a hot vintage, but this wine is very elegant rather than cooked, with the right level of acidity to be pleasant now and in the future.

Riserva wine is only made in good years, from carefully selected grapes. It was aged for 36 months in French oak casks and barrels. The lengthy ageing process has softened and developed the powerful tannins – so if you appreciate tannic wines, this wine is already quite enjoyable.

Tasting notes

In the glass, this Barbaresco Riserva has the typical garnet hue, but is a touch deeper. This wine offers the bold power of Nebbiolo, with aromas of dried strawberry, liquorice, tobacco, vanilla and leather. Dry and full-bodied, with a high level of alcohol and velvety tannins, balanced with a high acidity.
