Born in a pristine valley in west Sicily, this natural, unfiltered organic Catarratto wine is full of flavour.

Salvatore Tamburello’s 797 Catarratto wine bursts with attractive flavours of ripe yellow grapefruit, lotus flower, sweet peach, chamomile and ginger. As the wine is unfiltered, it has lots of texture and body from the natural grape particles. These also give the wine its unrefined hazy appearance.

This organic wine is made from grapes grown in the pristine Belice river valley in western Sicily. Surrounded by mountains, the valley is completely cut off from any chemical or industrial pollution.

Winemaking

Grapes for this 797 Catarratto are harvested in late August. After pressing, they are fermented at a controlled temperature of 18°C. After fermentation is finished, the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks for four months to integrate and develop. It is bottled in its natural condition, with unfiltered grape particles. As a result, this Catarratto wine continues to develop its flavours in bottle.

Tasting notes

797 Catarratto looks like pale gold in the glass. There’s nothing subtle about this wine – it offers rich and juicy flavours of sweet yellow fruits balanced by mouth-watering acidity. You’ll find notes of ripe yellow grapefruit, sun-dried yellow apple, ripe peach and apricot, as well as aromas of lotus flower and chamomile – and a tiny bite of ginger on the tongue. On the palate, this Catarratto wine has a satiny, dense texture, with an attractive bitter-sweet herbal finish.
