Borgo Macereto
Borgo Macereto is a tiny organic winery owned by the Foscarini family. It’s hidden off the beaten track, 20km north-east of Firenze in the foothills of the Apennines. This is the most northern part of the Rùfina sub-zone – the most prestigious part of Chianti DOCG.
Borgo Macereto’s terroir is a remarkable mountain amphitheatre. Veiled by pine forests, it is a habitat for birds and wild animals. Vines are planted between olive trees on the amphitheatre’s northern slopes, and benefit from the favourable south-eastern exposure.
Despite its small production volume, Borgo Macereto has received numerous accolades showcasing its relentless focus on quality.
