Montecappone-Mirizzi
The Montecappone winery was founded by the Mirizzi family in 1968. It sits just one mile west of the town of Jesi. Here, Gianluca Mirizzi produces some of the most outstanding Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi wines we have ever tasted.
The wine is released under two labels: Montecappone and Mirizzi. To amplify the natural aromas of his white wines, Gianluca uses the hyper-reduction method of vinification, in which all air is removed to prevent oxidation. After fermentation, wines are refined in amphorae or barriques. This creates premium white wines with extraordinary long ageing potential.
Mirizzi’s wines have won some of the most prestigious wine awards in Italy, including “Tre Bicchieri” from Gambero Rosso, “Corona” from Vinibuoni d’Italia, “5 Stars” from Vinitaly, “4 vines” from Vitae La Guida Vini, Gold medal from Glass of Bubbly, “3 Stars” from Veronelli, along with many others.
